"This is a shocking crime. I don't know how else to describe it," Smyrna police Lt. Meredith Holt said.
Cobb County Jail
Search for victim's identity, additional remains continues
The torso was discovered at the Park Valley Apartments on South Cobb Drive. Officers continued searching for additional remains as investigators pursued leads in the case.
Police have not publicly identified the woman and are awaiting confirmation from the medical examiner's office.
"We have not officially identified the victim," Holt said. "The medical examiner is not willing to make a confirmation at this point in time."
Person of interest held without bond
Police identified the person of interest as Kingston Bradley, 18. He has been charged with concealing a death but has not been charged with killing the woman.
Investigators are working to determine whether Bradley and the victim knew each other.
"We are looking for the connection between the victim and the person of interest that we're already currently looking at," Holt said.
Bradley was being held without bond Friday at the Cobb County Jail.
Court records show Bradley was arrested earlier this year after allegedly fighting with his father, with whom he was living. Holt said police had previously responded to the residence and had a history of calls there.
DoorDash activity examined
Investigators said the victim had been working for DoorDash the day before her remains were discovered. However, DoorDash told Atlanta News First there was no evidence she had made a delivery to the apartment complex.
Holt said the company told investigators the woman was not logged into the delivery platform at the time in question.
The investigation remains ongoing.
